Council shall provide direction on the administration, plans, policies and programs of the Town to the CAO.The Town is policed by the RCMP.The Town of PictouWardshipOffice, located at 40 Water Street, is where the office of the Chief Administrator Officer (CAO) is located. Public Works is moreover responsible for maintenance of the Jitney trail, town greenspaces, parks and sports fields, and Town buildings. Booking of parks and fields is managed by Pictou Recreation and Parks. Snow removal and salting is managed by Public Works as well. The Public Works department moreover maintains and services all town vehicles. Department staff moreover provide assistance for Town festivals and events, such as the Lobster Carnival, and to other Departments for special projects. Box 640Pictou, NS, B0K 1H0Ph:  902-485-5390     Fax: 902-485-8110    Pictou Recreation and Parks Pictou Recreation and Parks is responsible for the management of the Visitor's Marina, and Fisheries Training Pool. The Department moreover coordinates recreation programs, such as summer day camps, and youth worriedness programs, communications include managing the Town website, and coordinating events such as Canada Day, Natal Day, Christmas Light-up, Volunteer Banquet, the Summer Musical Showcase, and occasional special events Tall Ship visits. The Pictou Recreation & Parks Committee, comprised of polity members and two Town Councillors, is the group designated by Town Council to directly oversee the activities of the department. The committee defines results areas for the department in vibrations with the Town of Pictou vision and makes recommendations to Council on matters concerning recreation and parks in Pictou. Pictou Fire Department Since the early 1800's the Pictou Fire Department has been providing fire protection services to the Town of Pictou and bilateral aid to our neighbouring towns. The current Pictou Fire Hall is located at 166 Church St., and was built in 1972. Currently, the department is comprised of 2 companies with a total of 39 members. The fire fighters and officers at the department are single-minded to continually train and practice in all aspects of fire suppression and rescue. The members practice all the fundamentals so they can efficiently and rapidly extinguish, tenancy or extricate any situation.  They are moreover a big part of the community, profitable with fundraising, supplies wall drives, MD marching momentum and myriad other organizations that can use their help. The Pictou Office of the Pictou County District R.C.M.P. is located at 38 Caladh Ave., in Pictou wideness from the Hector Heritage Quay. It officially opened Oct. 2, 1998, and houses both a municipal and rural unit, comprised of 11 members and 4 staff. Officers moreover patrol Pictou Harbour and the Northumberland Strait in the detachment's Boston Whaler. Community-based policing initiatives over the past number of years have resulted in a waffly role and relationship between the district members and Pictou's citizens. Members of the district are zippy in the traditional policing role and have wilt increasingly integrated with the polity by stuff involved in various polity group, events, and endeavors. To commemorate the 125th year-end of the Force, a tartan specific to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was tried and designed in 1998. The rich and symbolic colours of the Tartan are taken from the Force's uniform and badge. The year 2007 signifies the 75thYear-endof the Royal Canadian Mounted Police providing policing services to the residents of Nova Scotia and the maritime provinces.
