This ribbon is given to a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution in the Town of Pictou. Learn increasingly   There are hundreds of opportunities to volunteer in the Town of Pictou. Whether you are interested in sports, events, gardening, or history there is something for you. Volunteering gives you an opportunity to get involved in your community, to make new friends, to learn new skills, and proceeds wits for school and work. Pictou Recreation and Parks Committee Pictou Recreation and Parks Department is guided by a standing committee comprised of polity members and Council representatives. The committee defines result areas for the department in vibrations with the Town of Pictou vision and makes recommendations to Council on matters concerning recreation, parks and facilities. Other activities of the Committee include profitable in organizing polity events, such as Winter Carnival, Christmas Light-Up, yearly VolunteerRibbonReception, and special projects. Volunteers are matched one on one (same sex) with an immigrant newcomer. The two people get together for a few hours a week to do things of worldwide interest or need – go to lunch, go to the mall, explore a grocery store, squint at cars for sale, etc. The transferral is for 6 months.
