Programs offered include sultana and youth ice hockey, pick-up hockey, public skating, lessons and skating parties. A vial and skate sharpening services are misogynist onsite. Helmets are now mandatory for children and youth under 18 years. Walkers and cyclists can enjoy a three kilometre trail to the site where the ship Hector made its historic landing in 1773. Park benches are available, permitting you to take in the panoramic views.Withalthe way you can learn well-nigh Pictou through interpretive panels and views of the site of the Hector settlers' landing. The Jitney Trail connects directly to the Trans Canada Trail System for increasingly voracious hikers.  Blue Route The Blue Route provincial cycling network will connect Nova Scotia’s communities through designated cycling routes on secondary highways with paved shoulders, low traffic volume roads, nonflexible surfaced trails, and municipality streets with bicycle infrastructure. Once completed the Blue Route will subsume of a 3000km network of signed bicycle routes, connecting riders with communities wideness the province. The first section of the Blue Route was launched and opened August 2015 whence on Pictou’s Waterfront. This included the installation of Blue Route signs on a segment of the provincial road network and on a short segment of the Jitney Trail, which is managed by the Town of Pictou. This segment of the unshortened planned route is 56 km in length, including 53km on Provincial Roadways and 3km on the Jitney Trail.
